November & December Holiday Art Program 2011


 
















1. Acrylic Painting on Canvas

This versatile, thick and quick-drying medium is a great way for children to paint freely! They will be taught techniques such as brush skills, colour mixing and blending. Each child would appreciate the variety of effects this medium can create.



2. Ink and Watercolour Exploration

Explore playful ways to apply ink & watercolour to paper by dripping, blowing, splattering and squirting ink and watercolour paints. Make textures and create interesting surface qualities. Line drawing will also be explored through this process.



3. Wire Sculpture

Children will learn to sketch the human figure and animals. Proportion, form, shape, contour, visual movement and gesture will be explored when handling these flexible and colourful aluminium wires.



4. Charcoal/ Pastels Drawing

Observational drawing is drawing what you see. This session is about translating

what each child observe about 3D objects into lines, shapes, colour and textures on paper. Sketching, line drawing, perspective, distribution of lights and darks in shading, understanding the use of warm and cool colours are explored in the process.



5. Pencil sketching and drawing

Using only the 2B pencil, each child will be taught half dozen  mark - making and various shading techniques to capture an impression of an arrangement of objects.



6. Watercolour- Painting in Layers

By exploring wet on wet / wet onto dry techniques, discover the beauty of this transparent medium through colour mixing, dilution levels and pattern making.



7. Exploring water-soluble mediums - NEW!

Using watercolour pencils and crayons with watercolour is a fun way to fuse drawing and painting. These mediums are versatile. They can be used in landscape, abstract and medium to small-scale paintings.

 

8. Collage Lab

Using both recycle and bought papers, children become more aware of the paper resources in our everyday lives. They will work with inks, paints, pastels, pencil, cut, tear, paste to create an assemblage.

  

9. Block Printing

This is a wonderful technique in creating either one-off poster or repeated pattern prints. Each child will sketch/ design an image before carving their design on a piece of foam. And they are off to creating a series of exciting prints!



10. Texture and Pattern

Paint and dab with different tools and household materials with ink and explore how texture can enliven a picture!



11. Deconstruct and Construct

Cut and reassemble a large painting embraces playfulness and promote confidence. Explore using vibrant colours and experiment cutting the painting into small pieces. Arrange the work into a different sequence and make new formations.

.Fee: $40 per session.  Materials included. Age: 4- 13yrs old

.Payment of  fees to be paid in full upon confirmation of classes.

.Fees can be paid in cash or cheque.

.Cheque payable to "SF GALLERIES"

.Small class size with teacher assistant.

.Parents may sign-up a minimum of 1 session or more for their child.

.Replacement class can be arranged if your child miss a session. At least 2 days notice is required.

.Full fee will be charged for 'no show' without notice given to the teacher.

.Portfolio preparation for entry into SOTA /other art institution and

O Level Art classes are available.
